Approved Medical Schools and Universities Pursuant to section 4 of the Medical Practitioners Act 1995, with effect from 1 July 1996 the following institutions have been approved by the Medical Council of New Zealand as universities whose graduates in medicine will be entitled to apply for registration in the categories indicated. D NOTES 1. A graduate of any of the institutions listed in paragraphs A, B or C who is visiting New Zealand, may be entitled to temporary registration without examination for the purpose of: (i) giving postgraduate instruction in medicine, or (ii) obtaining postgraduate training or postgraduate experience (as sponsored trainees), or carrying out research in medicine, in a hospital or other place approved by Council, or (iii) for any other purpose approved by the Council (including organ harvesting, support of international sports teams). 2. Pursuant to section 151 of the Act, the medical schools of the University of Auckland and the University of Otago, are deemed to be approved institutions with effect from 1 July 1996 and the qualifications MB ChB Auckland and MB ChB Otago accepted for probationary and general registration.
