Notice of Decision of Disciplinary Committee Notice is hereby given by the Disciplinary Committee of the New Zealand Society of Accountants that at a hearing held on 26 April 1994, the committee heard charges against Alan Craig Davenport-Brown of Wellington, that: (a) He was a bankrupt. (b) He had withdrawn client funds from his firm's trust account without proper authority; and (c) He had conducted himself in such a manner as to render the exercise of the powers of the Disciplinary Committee expedient in the interests of the public and of the society. Alan Craig Davenport-Brown appeared before the Disciplinary Committee and pleaded guilty to the charges. The Disciplinary Committee found the charges proved, based on evidence that was heard and received at the hearing on 26 April 1994. Pursuant to section 24 (3) (a) of the New Zealand Society of Accountants Act 1958, the Disciplinary Committee ordered that Alan Craig Davenport-Brown be removed from the Register of Members of the Society and fixed the date of 26 April 1997 after which Alan Craig Davenport-Brown may apply for re-registration under this Act. Alan Craig Davenport-Brown was ordered to pay to the society the sum of $4,373.10 (including G.S.T.) in respect of costs and expenses of and incidental to the inquiry by the Disciplinary Committee and the investigation by the Investigation Committee. The Disciplinary Committee ordered that its decision be published in the Accountant's Journal, the New Zealand Gazette, The Evening Post and The Dominion newspapers with mention of the member's name and locality. The decision of the Disciplinary Committee is based on the serious view taken of the offences and the member's past record involving two previous censures. Dated this 24th day of May 1994.
