Guidelines for Consent to Export Apples and Pears The exporting of apples and pears from New Zealand is controlled by the Apple and Pear Marketing Act 1971, with the exception of Asian pears. Only the New Zealand Apple and Pear Marketing Board, or its agents, and persons to whom the board has given its consent may export apples and pears. In 1993 an amendment to this Act was made which expressly requires the board, after 31 May 1994, to either grant or refuse its consent after having regard to relevant guidelines for the time being established and published by the board. The New Zealand Apple and Pear Marketing Board has established and published these guidelines and if you would like a copy, please write to the Secretary, New Zealand Apple and Pear Marketing Board, P.O. Box 3328, Wellington. I. D. FOWLER, Secretary.
