In accordance with section 74(1)(b) of the Legislation Act 2019 and section 161(3) of the Land Transport Act 1998 (as it applied before 28 October 2021), notification is hereby given of the making of Land Transport Rule: Vehicle Exhaust Emissions Amendment 2023 (“Rule”).

The objective of the Rule is to amend the Land Transport Rule: Exhaust Emissions Rule 2007 to:

• introduce Euro 6/VI and similar standards for the exhaust emissions of light and heavy motor vehicles, to apply at entry certification; and
• introduce exhaust emissions standards for motorcycles and mopeds, to apply at entry certification.

The Rule comes into force on 1 December 2023.
