Notification of Proposed Maritime and Marine Protection Rules

In accordance with section 446(a) and (b) of the Maritime Transport Act 1994, Maritime New Zealand, on behalf of the Minister of Transport, gives notice of the Minister’s intention to make the following maritime and marine protection rules:

Maritime Rules and Marine Protection Rules Various Amendments 2023

The amendments are proposed for the following Maritime and Marine Protection Rules:

  • Maritime Rules Part 19, relating to applications for (including renewals of) Maritime Transport Operator Certificates and providing extensions for such applications:
  • Maritime Rules Part 32, relating to non-STCW-F marine engineer privileges:
  • Maritime Rules Parts 40A and 42B, to amend the rating for fire-fighting foam for portable fire extinguishers as applied to flammable and combustible liquids:
  • Marine Protection Rules Part 199, relating to Annex VI Endorsements, EIAPP certificates and engine compliance dates.

Comments are invited on the above proposed rules developed under the Maritime Transport Act 1994.

Consultation will commence on 22 August 2023.

Submissions must be made online or by email or post by 5.00pm on 19 September 2023.
