Notice of Exemption From Maritime and Marine Protection Rules: 20.5(1); 21.13(1)(b); 31B.6(3); 31B.10(a), Table 3; 32.19B(1)(b)(i); 40A.56(1); 40A.56(1), Appendix 4.3; 40A.58; 122.4(1) & (2)

Pursuant to section 47(3) of the Maritime Transport Act 1994, the Director of Maritime New Zealand hereby notifies the granting of the following exemptions:
- 1 from Maritime Rule 20.5(1) - Operating Limits - Assigning operating limits and operating within assigned limits - the owner of any ship to which this rule applies must ensure that the ship has operating limits assigned to it by a surveyor
- 1 from Maritime Rule 21.13(1)(b) - Safe Ship Management Systems - Ships which do not proceed beyond restricted limits, fishing ships, and ships of less than 45 metres in length are not required to comply with section 1 - entry to and conditions to be met in order to remain in Safe Ship Management System - New Zealand Safe Ship Management Certificate issued by Director
- 1 from Maritime Rule 31B.6(3) - Crewing and Watchkeeping Unlimited, Offshore, Coastal and Restricted (Non-Fishing Vessels) - Minimum safe crewing - general requirements - No person may act in a crew position listed in the Minimum Safe Crewing Document unless that person holds the qualification
- 1 from Maritime Rule 31B.10(a), Table 3 - Crewing and Watchkeeping. Offshore Coastal and Restricted (Non-Fishing Vessel - Passenger vessels - Enclosed area - passenger vessels operating in enclosed area must carry seafarer with minimum required qualifications and minimum crew specified in Table 3
- 3 from Maritime Rule 32.19B(1)(b)(i) - Ships' Personnel - Qualifications - New Zealand chief mate (yacht) - evidence of 36 months in a deck capacity in vessels of 12 metres or more in length
- 3 from Maritime Rule 40A.56(1) - Design, Construction and Equipment - Passenger ships which are not SOLAS ships - Life saving appliances - owner and master of a ship must ensure that life-saving appliances are provided in accordance with the requirements of Appendix 4
- 1 from Maritime Rule 40A.56(1), Appendix 4.3 - Design, Construction and Equipment - Passenger ships which are not SOLAS ships - Life saving appliances - Restricted limit ships
- 1 from Maritime Rule 40A.58 - Design, Construction and Equipment - Passenger ships which are not SOLAS ships - Anchors and cables - New ships of 24 metres or more - owner of ship 24 metres in length or more must ensure anchors and cables are provided in accordance with the requirements
- 1 from Marine Protection Rule 122.4(1) & (2) - Marine Protection Products - Oil - Oil discharge monitoring and control system and oil filtering equipment - applies to ships of 400 gross tonnage or more, and owner must ensure every ship fitted with oil filtering equipment is approved by the Director and discharge into sea has oil content not exceeding
